History of the National Digital Department

The National Digital Department (JDN) is a new organization resulting from the restructuring and rebranding of what was originally the Malaysian Administrative Modernization and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU), Prime Minister’s Department (JPM).

JDN was established following the Decision of the National Economic Action Council (MTEN) Meeting Number 7 of 2023 which was decided on 11 December 2023, and through a cabinet reshuffle on 12 December 2023. This establishment involves several existing functions previously carried out by MAMPU, which are continued through the establishment of JDN. It is a strategic step by the Government to streamline, coordinate and strengthen the country’s digitalization agenda in a more holistic manner.
